I’m only 18, but I’ve already started as a dev building Android apps while in high school. I don’t wanna spend at least 3 years studying in college, I just need a bit of a structure what I actually need to know that companies are looking for when they hire, those sort of things. I can afford a few months of studying. My parents won’t kick me out for another couple of years or so :))
I’m kind of addicted to learn. I shifted from high school IT teacher to software engineer, but a few years later, I really got interested in the whole thing with Big Data and how to use it for business purposes. There’s a great introduction on how to become a data scientist here. It allowed me to quickly find suitable and trusted courses. I appreciate all this research work done on my behalf.
I’m about to finish my studies of Economics, but I’m so hungry for more. Big data excites me so much that I feel like devouring all those courses in one go! OK, OK, I’ll probably need more time than that. Actually, I found it encouraging that I should be able to apply for junior positions as a data scientist in around 18 months or so. I’ll see how it all goes and then come back with my feedback at that time!

Choosing a career path is a great privilege! Imagine all the people who must do something without the right of choice. So, if you’re completely lost, there’s no simple tip that will make things crystal clear. You’ll need to think through what excites you, your current competencies, to find a mentor, to use the GPV formula – there are all sorts of things to help you understand what you’re best at and what you really want. You can start by taking a quiz on BitDegree to see what type of character you are. We suggest what jobs suit you, and then the courses that teach the skills that you’d need for the chosen path. Or, if you already know the direction, only need more details to decide between, for example, front-end and back-end development, in the FAQ sections of our learning paths, you’ll find many questions answered that will make the comparison easy.
You can think of a learning path as a list of the skills that you have to develop and master for the career that you’re aspiring to pursue. It’s skills that matter. A good practice would be to find a successful role model and follow the lead getting the skills that he or she mostly uses, adding the things of your choice. Or do your investigation of what a particular professional needs to know, skipping the generic college surpluses. Or you can count on us because we’ve already dug deep into several professions and researched the main things that people must learn if they want to land a paid job in that field. That’s what our learning paths are all about.
As already mentioned, a learning path on BitDegree includes a list of online courses teaching you the skills that are essential for a chosen profession. It provides at least several options for beginners and introduces more advanced teachings as you progress along that path. You’ll find those courses structured in relevant topics (e.g., Back-end Developer learning path includes topics such as picking a programming language, learning about testing, learning about relational databases, caching, authentication/authorization methodologies, etc.). To provide even more value to you, we include the details that you naturally need and Google search. It could be that you’re not entirely sure which path to follow. Then read the FAQ sections of different learning paths and see if you want to code the front-end, the back-end of applications, or both? Is it web building or Android app development that you’re more into? How much can you expect to earn from doing each of the options in the US? In Japan? Or in Europe? What do you actually need to get a job as a data scientist? How long will it take to learn the essentials? And so on! All the answers are here!
As for now, you’ll need to go to the page of each course that you want to enroll and proceed with them one by one. With BitDegree’s new subscription model, it means that all courses on our platform will be available to you unlimited as long as you continue subscribing! That’s the most fantastic thing ever! However, as you may see, there’s a bunch of content we’re suggesting on other platforms (Udemy, Coursera, and others) where we can’t guarantee such luxury, so you’d need to get those courses separately on the terms of those platforms. We’ve suggested them to you because we saw value in those courses, and we want you to learn valuable skills. Keep checking, though, some of them might one day appear on BitDegree too!
